train journey- an experience - intro into corruption.

Hi friends,

Last week i was travelling from hyderabad to mumbai after doing some personal work at hyderabad. The train as usual was full. It is not clear as who is having proper tickets as most of them occupied seats and few sleeping on the upper berth in the afternoon itself. I had my seat towards the window, the single seat. After the train crossed vikarabad, i had a sip of tea(masala tea between vikarabad and thandur is too good). After sometime the TTE has come to examine the tickets. The drama unfolded with people giving money to get a seat and TTE saying there are no seats but still adjusting few of them by taking money. One question that comes here is what is driving corruption. The TTE could have gone by the list and alloted then there is no corruption. The person who is not having a seat could have gone into general bogie and taken his seat. The problem is govt is creating this corruption. Why cant there be 6 general bogies in a train atleast which used to be at one point of time. Why cant tatkal seats be reduced so that people get confirmed seats at time of booking itself so that TTE cannot do this mischief. The truth is govt wants it and on other side talks about reducing corruption. We in india dont want to address problem but want to find alternate means to cover problem. As long as this mentality exists nothing can change.
