In this article we explain the composition of the human body and its various subtle bodies. Modern science has gone in some depth into understanding the physical body. However its understanding of the other aspects of human existence is still very limited. For example the understanding of the human psyche and intellect is still more or less limited to their physical aspects. However spiritual science has studied the entire human existence in great detail.

2. What are human beings comprised of as per spiritual science?

A living person is made up of the following bodies.

The Physical Body

The Vital Energy Body (Praan-deha)

The Mental Body (Mano-deha)

The Intellect Body or Causal body (Kaarana-deha)

The Subtle Ego or Supracausal body (Mahaakaarana-deha)

The Soul or the God Principle in each of us (Aatma)

3. The Physical Body

This is the body that is best known to modern science. It comprises of the skeletal framework, muscles, tissues, organs, blood, 5 sense organs, etc.

4. The Vital Energy Body

This is the body also known as the Praandeha. This body provides the vital, life sustaining energy for all the functions of the physical as well as the mental body. There are five types of vital energies or praana:

Praana: Energy for the activity of inhalation.

Udaana: Energy for the activity of exhalation and speech.

Samaana: Energy for the activity of the stomach and intestines.

Vyaana: Energy for voluntary and involuntary movements of the body.
Apaana: Energy for urination, excretion, ejaculation, childbirth, etc.

At the time of death the vital energy is released back into the Universe and also helps in propelling the subtle body in its onward journey.

5. The Mental Body or the Mind

The Mental Body (Manodeha) or the Mind is the seat of our feelings, emotions and desires. It carries in it countless number of impressions from this life and previous lives. It is made up of three parts:

The conscious mind: It is that part of our thoughts and feelings that we are aware of.

The sub-conscious mind: It contains all the impressions required to complete our destiny (praarabdha) in our current lifetime. Thoughts from the sub-conscious mind sometimes emerge into the conscious mind from time to time either in response to some external stimulus or at time even without it. For example during the course of one’s day one gets a random and unrelated thought about some vague incident in one’s childhood.

The unconscious mind: This is the aspect of our mind that we are completely unaware of. This contains all the impressions that are associated with our accumulated account.

The sub-conscious mind and unconscious mind together are known as the Chitta.

Sometimes we also refer to an aspect of the Mental Body as the Desires Body or Vaasanaadeha. This is the aspect of the mind that contains all the impressions of desires.

The physical organ associated with the Mental Body is the brain.

6. The Intellect

The Causal Body (Kaaranadeha) or the Intellect Body is the body which deals with the decision making process and reasoning ability.

The physical organ associated with the Intellect Body is the brain.
7. The Subtle Ego

The Subtle Ego or the Supracausal Body (Mahaakaaranadeha) is the final vestige of the nescience and is the feeling that we are separate from God.

8. The Soul

The Soul is the God principle within us and is our true nature. It is the main component of the subtle body which is a fraction of the Supreme God Principle with the qualities of Absolute Truth (Sat), Absolute Consciousness (Chit) and Bliss (Aanand). The Soul is unaffected by the ups and downs in life and is in a perpetual state of Bliss. It looks at the ups and downs of life in Maya or the Great Illusion with an observer stance. The Soul is beyond the 3 subtle basic components; however the rest of our consciousness like the Physical Body and the Mental Body is made up of it.
9. The Subtle Body

The Subtle Body is defined as that part of our being or consciousness that leaves our Physical Body at the time of physical death. It comprises of the Mental Body, the Causal Body or Intellect, the Supracausal Body or Subtle Ego and the Soul. What is left behind at the time of physical death is our Physical Body. The Vital Energy is released back into the Universe.
The following are some other aspects of the subtle body
Subtle sense organs: By subtle sense organs we mean the subtle aspect of our 5 sense organs by which we are able to perceive the subtle realm. For example we are able to perceive a subtle fragrance such as jasmine without their being any stimulus to cause it. Also the fragrance may only be experienced by one person and not by the others in the same room. This is explained in more detail. Also refer to our article on – What is sixth sense?

Subtle motor organs: By subtle motor organs we mean the subtle aspect of our physical motor organs such as our arms, tongue, etc. All activity is initiated first in subtle motor organs and then executed in the physical dimension by one’s gross motor organs.

10. Nescience

All the other aspects of our being other than the Soul are part of Maya or the Great Illusion. It is called Nescience or Avidyaa which when literally translated means absence of knowledge. The word Nescience or Avidyaa stems from the fact that we identify ourselves with our physical body, mind and intellect and not with our true nature which is the Soul or the God principle within us.

Nescience is the root cause of unhappiness. Man gets attached to money, his own house, family, city, country, etc. The greater the attachment to any individual or object, greater is the likelihood of unhappiness arising from attachment. Even an ideal social worker or a Saint may become attached to the society or His devotees respectively. The greatest attachment that each one has is for himself; that is his own mind and body. Even a slight discomfort or illness can make one unhappy; hence everyone should gradually become detached about oneself and accept pain and illness in one’s stride. This is of course with the inherent understanding that happiness and unhappiness in life is experienced primarily due to our destiny. Also that only by identifying with the Soul can we experience perpetual Bliss.

The Soul and Nescience together constitute the embodied soul. Nescience for a living person has twenty components in all - the Physical Body, five subtle sense organs, the five subtle motor organs, the five vital energies, the conscious mind, the Chitta, the Intellect Body and the ego. Since the functions of the components of the subtle body go on continuously, the attention of the embodied soul is drawn to them instead of the soul, that is away from spiritual knowledge to Nescience.

destiny and wilful Action

To explain this concept we have to understand what destiny is:

The popular western view is that we are in control of our lives and everything that happens to us is as a result of our own choice.
On the other hand the popular eastern view is that every thing that happens to us is not under our control and we are nothing but puppets in a preordained plan.

However neither of these views are completely correct. The answer according to the science of Spirituality is that in the present times 65% of our lives are ruled by destiny and 35% by wilful action.

But we can overcome the 65% of our destiny part, by using the 35% of our wilful action to undertake the correct spiritual practice.

Destiny is when you have no control over life situations.
Wilful action is that portion of your life which you do have control over.
An example of wilful action: Suppose there is a person who is drunk and has a badly maintained car. He decides to drive his car in a drunken state down a steep mountain side and he does so at high speed. If he were to at some point skid off the road down the mountain side, whose fault would it be? Would that be an accident caused by destiny or an accident caused by willful action?

Well, it is wilful action as he could have chosen not to drink and drive. He could have ensured that his car was better serviced and could have driven slowly.

An example of a destined event: Take the case of another driver who is sober. He drives carefully and maintains his car in a perfect condition. He too drives down the same mountain side observing all precautions. All of a sudden a portion of the road collapses due to a landslide and he meets with an accident. In this case the person had no control over the landslide that occurred and hence this is a destined event.

Destiny is spiritual in nature and can only be overcome with a spiritual remedy which is spiritual practice. Depending on the severity of destiny, appropriate levels of spiritual practice needs to be done to overcome destiny. The following chart shows us examples of the different types of destiny and measures to overcome it:

Please note:

Intense spiritual practice in terms of quantity would mean about 12-14 hours of practice a day. In terms of quality, it means that the person does all his daily activities as service to God, with a lot of desire and with the primary purpose to attain God.

Medium spiritual practice in terms of quantity would mean about 4-5 hours of practice a day. In terms of quality, it means that the person does most of his daily activities as service to God.

Indian food

The first thing that strikes you when you compare cuisines in a place as diverse as India is that the colour of food does not necessarily translate into the colour of skin. North Indians are mostly tall, fair, wheat-eaters. South Indians, in contrast, are predominantly darker skinned, rice-eaters. The rest of this culinary story is a matter of white vs. brown.

Let’s begin the journey from top to bottom or north to south, and start from the Kashmir. The Kashmiri cuisine is famous for its “Wazwan”. A multi-dish mostly non-vegetarian meal served at ceremonies – like weddings etc. It is a ritualistic serving of all the food in the house, to the guest. This show of hospitality must in turn be fully appreciated by the guest as days of planning and preparation result in a single Wazwan meal. And the mutton-gluttons don’t take too kindly to poor eaters.

Moving on to Punjab, here the food is rich like the fields and portions extra-large, like the hearts of its people. There’s Mah Ki Daal and Sarson Ka Saag. The stuffed Parathas, Butter Chicken, Rajma-chawal and Chholey-Bhature all served – dollops of butter or ghee and Lassi. This cuisine is tailor made for a farmer’s hard-working lifestyle.

Food is probably the next best thing to architecture that the Mughals gifted Delhi. And families of the same royal cooks, who served Emperor Akbar, still run places that become legendary. The Mutton Mughlai, Badaam Pasanda and Dum Biryani are things that make culinary dreams are made of. The layered Parathas, Tandoori dishes and a mind-boggling array of Kebabs leave you more confused for choice. The Chaats, Tikkis and Samosas make your tongue burn even while you taste buds refuse to relent and you need to hot-foot to the nearest water cooler.

Making our journey southwards – it’s the Andhra cuisine that will literally set you on fire. A range of chutneys, pickles and curries accompany the staple diet – rice, which is eaten with just about everything. Spices and chillies are used by the bagful in every preparation. For the confusing names they give their food, Andhraites keep their preparations fairly simple. There’s Pessaratu, a spicy pancake made of pulses. There’s Rasam, the thinly disguised atom-bombish soup. There’s Pappu, made with pulses, tamarind and vegetables. And then there’s the Nawabi food of Hyderabad! Rich like the race that once ruled the region. The Biryanis, Kebabs and desserts of Hyderabad, words don’t suffice to describe the epiphany that the gourmet food can have.

“Udupi” a little town on the southwest coast of Karnataka has made the state world-famous. The humble Masala Dosa originated here. It is what can be easily described as the fast food of India – doasa, appams, idlis, uttapas can even surpass the legendary sales figures of McDonald burgers. A meal in Karnataka is a ceremonious affair. Dishes are served in a particular sequence and everyone is supposed to begin and end the meal together. Tough, if you hear nature calling in the middle of one!

Tamil Nadu offers a wide range of Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian dishes. Coconut, tamarind and asafoetida are a must in almost all vegetarian preparations. Among the non-vegetarian ones, however, Chicken Chettinad cackles the loudest. It is among the spiciest, oiliest and most aromatic chicken dishes.

In Kerala, the coconut capital of India, coconut in every dish is mandatory, as is rice. The fish too is omnipresent. Being the spice capital of the country, spices of all kinds make their food aromatic, drawing foodies by the hordes, with liberal usage of cardamom, clove, pepper, turmeric, ginger, chillies & mustard. Kerala is known for its traditional banquet – Sadhya, a vegetarian meal served with boiled rice and a plethora of side-dishes. The sadhya is complemented by payasam, a sweet milk dessert native to Kerala. The sadhya is, as per custom, served on a banana leaf, and is a formal meal with three or more courses of rice and side-dishes (usually sambar, rasam, buttermilk, etc.).

The defining feature about Indian cuisine is the the diversity which reflects the varied demographics of this ethnically diverse subcontinent. Since transportation took time in the days of yore, each region had to prepare food with locally available material. The most striking contrast in eating habits shows up between the meat-and-bread eating northern regions and the pulse-and-rice southern regions. However, no matter where the food is from, the Indian cuisine is not just wholesome but tasty to boot.

Value of life.

Today I am feeling bad because of train accident in Bengal. What is happening . Why ar not we able to vaue lifes. flight accident 180 gone. Daily road accidents almost 1500 going everyday. Train accidents by criminal elements. Add to these enemities etc. I dont know where are we heading. why are we not in a position to value lifes. It comes once. Useless fights. Useless ego's. Ultimately when we sit to see the balance sheet of life we can see we lost everything in useless fights and egos and which cannot be undone. It is time to value our lifes. Live our lifes. friends value ur life. Make them meaningful.

PRASIM Ambulance Services.

Dear friends,

It gives immense satisfaction when we we do something to place where we are born or our own native places. Tohis dates back almost to two plus years that ambulance services to places of kondepi and petluru has to be made reality.

Life is a different thing. Till the time i met a person for me the only pain in life is a failed marriage. technically i am sound. Job wise i am good. Other things i am good. It was one afternoon that i went out with this person. It was the rock garden there was sound and music and people are enjoying. I am sitting on the steps of the rock garden. Suddenly a photo came out of the bag and said  this is that person who died in accident. had there been ambulance there at right time he could have got saved. It looks a normal thing for most of us. But for me it was different. For me this person is like kid. A soft corner in heart. I could just see into the eyes. The eyes looking into vaccum. Even if somebody would have punched 10 times with knife i still would have felt myself at ease. That is the time that I felt that no other person should feel this state.

Mind was getting prepared to do something. But still things were fluid.  Next incident a maruti 800 accident where all of us would have had a mass funeral. such was the impact. The person head was injured. I have decided that ambulance is now the need.

I watched the movie 'tirupathi'  which says that every pregnant lady should get free treatment, i felt every pregnant lady who gets life into the earth should get proper medical facilities from village. they should be taken to good near by hospitals.

A fire in the heart started burning. A bramhin started thinking. Suddenly in the mean time job loss at Microsoft. Thought god has put a full stop to this noble idea. A job at sybase. A trip to USA. A discussion on same with christine, kristy, rebecca etc. Project plan prepared and told to them. God is there, people accepted to fund this noble cause.

Back into india action, nego's with Maruti for Omni type Ambulance. Fate is powerful. Had put forward the same proposal with tata motors for tata magic. Today I am proud to say TATA Winger 'full fledged patient can sleep' with aminities was decided with other company also coming forward. The discussions with other parties for oxygen in van etc have also moved forward.

Next came the business angle on how to keep this working without stopping. A special thanks to my friend Sachin Prasad who came with noble ideas. Still we are thinking on various options so that this free service can keep running without fail.

I myself met with accident on feb8th which all of you know. I still know the nurse who took care of me. especially when they had to scan by sending the body through a circular object to find 360 degrees view of damage of the shoulder i know the pain of sleeping on that bed. I bow with my both hands for that nurse who took care of me as I had nobody with me.

The truth is that by october end/ nov starting this would become a reality. I would like to thank each and every person who was with me in this noble cause. A special thanks to the person who has opened my eyes at rock garden  who is the motivator for me for this noble cause.

Regarding PRASIM there is only one person who knows full form or meaning of it, my employee priyanka other than me and it is good that it is left with that person.

I am looking forward PRASIM helping people during accidents, floods, pregnancy etc and help people.

Thanking you all for being with me in all what i do.

May vishnu bless us all.

Better ways of taking care.

When someone you love falls ill they can lose all their energy, fall prey to pain and become down/exhausted. However, this discomfort can be eased by the loving care of a family member; you. Read the following article to learn how to properly care for a sick family member, ease any kind of pain they may be suffering from and hopefully help them on the road to recovery. 1
Ø  Find out what kind of illness they have, and research it. Certain types of illnesses can be aided by certain home remedies, medicines, treatments, etc. Look these up so you'll be prepared and knowledgable throughout the relative's illness. If you are educated on common symptoms, you'll know what stages of the illness they're going through and whether the sickness is getting better or worse.
Ø  Help them get comfortable. If they're bed ridden, bring them some cushions, or an extra blanket or two. Keep things they'll need by their side, such as a drink, box of tissues or icepack.
Ø  Give them lots of fluids to keep them hydrated. Stay away from sugary drinks like coke. Water would be the best choice. Other choices would be ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Keeping the relative well hydrated means their body is better equipped to battle their illness.
Ø  Give them medicine made to help them with that sickness. If they've been prescribed a certain medicine, make sure they get it on time. If they've been taking painkillers, make sure you ask them regularly whether they feel like they might need another one.
Ø Keep them entertained. Being sick in bed all day can be very boring, so help them find things to enjoy. Read to them, settle them near the TV or talk to them for a while (make sure not to get them too overecited). Chances are, the less bored they are, the less down in the dumps they'll feel.
Ø  Make sure they only eat light food. Popsicles, yogurt, soup, etc. will do fine because those foods are light on the digestive system. Steer them away from heavy meals that they'll regret later.
Ø  Stay near them and help out as much as possible. If the relative is frequently throwing up or suffering fits, make sure you stay near them to be with them. Hold them steady and comfort them, and help them to clean up, etc afterwards. But be aware that the person may not want company, so do not crowd them

So went to hyderabad in person and bought two forms. Sent one to the person. Next i needed to have certificates xerox. I called my brother and got them scanned and sent. I needed the signature of a gazetted officer. I am a very big job guy, but i need a govt guy of rank of gazetted officer. some how caught an officer got it signed and sent. The day came but i did not get my hall ticket. It reached two days after exam is over. I really felt bad of such efforts going down the drain. Eliminaton of doubts brings success in life

It is quite unfortunate to write a topic like this on blog as it has a shade of negativity which i never supported. But I am writing this for a special person. In personal life doubts damage the entire essence of life. I think i had called once her mother when working for a big MNC once to clear her doubts that I dont get anger for no reason and will enter into anger zone the moment even her mother touches her on wrong side even if it slightest. Then I had kept conference call with her uncle to show as proof that I am commited seriously and not prank person. Today i had sent an sms proof to show that I am a person with integrity who is serious on what he speaks. I dont know to mingle words, that is mistake god has done with me.  I work for betterment of everybody and in process i forget that there is a person called P S N KUMAR. But that has been truth all through out my life.

Doubt is like a blemish in the fabric of mental consciousness created by external factors like fear and worry about tasks that have yet to be performed. If doubt persists, it may affect your mental ability to perform a task. Doubt often is the main cause of failure in your work, business, relationships, health and every other thing. You should know that brooding and worrying about anything affects your emotional state making you imagine things which may not be there. In such an emotional state you are unable to give one hundred percent effort to anything that you are doing.

When you are working to achieve something that you desire, you may come face to face with something entirely new, something that you have never experienced in the past. In such a situation it will be useful to take a look at the situation, ask questions and remove your doubts. Everything has an explanation that can be understood with reasonable effort. Work on your problem, examine your fears and doubts and, if necessary, look at the problem from a new angle. Your primary goal should be to focus on what you want. Don’t try to create a demon of fear by making wrong assumptions. Some people waste a lot of time fumbling about their ideas, trying to figure out what they want. They lose a lot of precious time and energy in doing this whereas the right thing to do is to stop doubting and worrying and to focus on the work at hand. The work at hand is to see MBA is done with best marks.

Sometimes it may be best to stop worrying and leave all your troubles and cares to the Lord as He cares for you. He will solve all your problems in no time. In accordance with a research study made at Spindrift Foundation on the influence of prayer, a “thy will be done” prayer gets more than double as many outcomes as a specific “give me this” prayer. That’s why it is so necessary to finish your appeal for anything you desire with the words, “this or something better.”

If your start is not satisfactory, don’t worry about it. An unsatisfactory start is a common occurrence. If doubts and fears assail your mind, just sit back and relax. Think about what you can and should do and rather than about what you cannot do. Your focus should be on what you know and what you can do and leave the rest to God who is the supreme power in the universe. This attitude will put you in a state of blissful joy. Focus on the “here and now” and try to learn from your mistakes instead of just worrying about them. This way you will be able to eliminate doubts to bring success closer.

LET ME DO WHATEVER I CAN TO TAKE AWAY DOUBTS WHICH SHOULD BRING JOY BACK. REST UPTO GOD.

Please read carefully for it is written for you.

This particular blog is for a specific person. The person will know it is written for. This is the same day that we got introduced to each other. Congrats on anniversary for both of us.

She had a kid and she loves the kid very much. The kid used to be taken by grandfather during Sundays/holidays and vacations and education of the kid was suffering very much. She has the dream of making the kid good. After October event in our life, I had called the grandfather of the kid and told him that I want to take the kid with me to Mumbai as she is integral part of my life. When she was into Mumbai I had shown her different schools and asked to pickup a school so that the kid can read in any one of those schools and can be taken care as I opposed to the concept of kids put into the hostels. The Mohali people started bashing. She was on the way to rohtak. She also felt why this man has done like this. But on the other end the person was working with his head down. He made the kid(Mani) speak to her when she was on her way to the rohtak by bus. Yes there was some unrest but today the kid is totally with her. What has that made. It had given her the time to work on the kid. One day phone came she said the kid is weak in studies and it is ok. I started telling her to make kid read. I still know I used to sms/phone her saying make him read he should become the prince of the month. I am sure she used to feel it as sarcasm or anything. But internally in the heart I know I am keeping faith on a process and it is going to become a success. One day a photo key chain was sent to me by her as gift. I had sent it back to her asking it to be given to kid with his photos to be put in. She was intelligent enough to put one photo a day if kid is going to read a question/answer. Few months later do you the result. The kid has secured the first rank and has become ‘prince of month ‘ in school. I don’t want to take away any credit from the mother for taking pains to get that for kid. BUT I WAS NOT FRAUD IN THIS. THE ACTIONS ALWAYS WERE ON THE RECEIVING END. LET HER JUDGE BY HERSELF TODAY IS THE KID COMPLETELY NOT WITH YOU, THE PUSH TO MAKE HIM READ FOR EXAMS, THE PUSH FOR GIFTS TO KID WITH RESULTS, THE RESULT THE KID BECOMING A FIRST’ AND KID IS ALWAYS WITH YOU. I want to humbly tell her I work on results which make u feel good. The day he was declared and brought to my notice recollect what was the first thing I told to you. Take him to waterkingdom and let him enjoy. I on my part has also tried to keep close to kid. I still remember one day when the kid has asked will you play atlas with me where you have to tell a name of a place with the letter ending. I know I kept playing because it would help his social studies. Recollect madam whenever I was there I had always taken you people both out not you in as a single person.

Today whether you accept or not on this thing a proven path is laid and you have to just work and not create anything.

Next comes when she was at Mumbai, I told her my plans clearly. To make her director to a company which was in my dream to start. Today the truth is my company is 4 months old. I am sure you know that a person from your place itself works for my company. Is this what is called fraud. Had I not been in the Microsoft debacle my company would have been one year old by this time. Was that not the timeframe I had discussed with you when you were here. Was this plan not shared with you. Don’t you think you would have been holding this position? As I was having clear vision on how to navigate you am I not the same person who wanted you to get the Management side clear with you. Was I not the same person who brought the entrance forms, made you to appear and today you are standing at the end of first semester. Is this forethought that once you become a proven MBA you can do good the organization I wanted to open for you becomes a success a fraud. Is this way of making you confident and also pushing finances into your hands in a safe way is what is called fraud. Please think with your cool head. Just see yourself with business started for you and MBA going hand in hand to have a perfect take over I don’t think it is called fraud.

Madam you have said that I forgot you. Recollect Feb 1st.2010 With whom was I at the stroke of the midnight starting the process of geojit. Was geojit opened in your name exclusive or did I made it a combined one. The four months of the geojit travel is before you with username and password of yours which u can check for yourself. You very clearly were explained what is the goal of it. Yes to make the education of kid a thing which should be unparallely safe. I wanted to teach the kid the same trading along with time. Had I not shared this with you. Teaching a quality to kid so that when he becomes big is not a fraud. Just standup and see how many parents around you take such time out to teach to their kids. I take the honour to say yes I have that capability. Whether you like it or not by 1st of june I will be completing 8% of that target that I had set up by self in terms of time and value I had set up. From july 2010 whether you accept or not , your pension scheme for the same will be unveiled. Madam I am sure this doesnot come under fraud.

Madam I still remember you leaving the place saying I have an ‘x’ fear which I said is not right by any means. I said time is the best thing to heal such fear. Today after 20 months don’t you feel that fear was a proven wrong. Taking such big time as punishment on to myself to take away your fear cannot be a fraud.

Madam if you recollect, I had never even lifted your phone so that it should not cost you. I always said let it be on me. Any place I go getting things that make sense for you and bring happiness is the thing that I had thought. The jaipur dress which made you recollect your school days and on to your blog which gave a permanent place for the photos is not fraud. Today even if something happens to those photos the electronic version of the photos is on with you for life. This is not called fraud. Taking a cue from my writing of blog you had started writing your blog. Was this lesson to explain how to be more extrovert is not fraud. Put a hand on your heart and say has it not transformed you from being an introvert to extrovert. A person who can express herself. Tension before exam dates is a common condition noticed in students. However, doctors and psychiatrists believe there are ways to keep this fear away.

Children often get worried on the night before an examination day. Normal stress levels are natural for any student. Even adults feel nervous before an important interview date. But there are many students over the world who exhibit symptoms that are sometimes a bit more serious than normal examination tension. Psychiatrists and physicians get such complains from a lot of students these days:

Symptoms of Exam Fever

Students face examination stress in many ways. Stress of this kind is mostly mental and emotional. However, sometimes exam stress can also manifest itself through some physical symptoms.

Students often feel that their heart beats faster on the night before the examination day. Headaches, cramps etc. are other common occurrences that are noticed among pupils. Students who face excessive bouts of nervousness often face physical conditions that are worse.
“pre-exam nerves” are often in a very edgy condition. The extra stress that one experiences during this phase often leads to intense physical disorders. The site has identified the following as common physical symptoms noticed before an examination day:

•Lack of sleep

•Frequent headaches

•General tension and irritability

•Giddiness

Techniques to Handle Exam Stress

Most doctors and psychiatrists over the world believe that examination stress and tension can be handled effectively by practicing very simple routines before exams. The practical solution for handling exam stress is to plan a study time-table in advance. This prevents pre-exam jitters.

Also, one must focus on the chapters and areas about which one is not too confident. At times, students tend to become needlessly hyper just before exams. This situation has been identified by reputed educational institutes as well.

For instance, the Imperial College Healthcentre believes that students often suffer from some “Common Thinking Errors” while facing examinations. This leads to a loss of confidence among students in many educational institutes. They tend to consider themselves incapable of performing or scoring good marks in an examination.

According to them, in order to avoid such conditions, students should learn to “face their fears.” It is also necessary to understand the source of one’s anxiety. At times, pupils tend to exaggerated a minute setback and set it as a landmark for the rest of their exam papers. This is a wrong approach. Psychiatrists believe that a difficult subject should be broken into little bits. They should be handled part by part.

For extreme physical conditions caused by too much stress, one should practice some relaxation techniques on a daily basis. According to Dr. Gill Jenkins , “simple muscle tensing and relaxing methods” help students to tackle examination stress to a large extent. Light breathing exercises also help to calm one's nervous system during examinations.

Examinations are a major stress factor among many students. However, one should not let it turn into a phobia. Hence, it is necessary to get proper aid from proper sources to regain once confidence while facing exams.

IGNOU - MBA/MCA exam prepartion

For most of the student exams is the worst part of studying. You are stressed and if you have not been studying properly within the academic year it looks like you are going to fail everything. However the reality is not that bad. If you are not aiming to get an “A” you can prepare for your exam in 3-4 days and get a good mark. This section of the web site will give you general tips on how to succeed on your exam.

How to prepare effectively for an exam

1. Make sure you will collect all lecture notes and related material at least 2 weeks before the exam. After that this task will be almost impossible to complete.

2. You DEFINITELY need to get some past papers for this exam. Usually you can get them from the library, university web site or from your own tutor. In some cases past papers may be accompanied with answers.

3. 1-2 weeks before the exam talk to your tutor and ask him or her what kind of questions there will be on exam. In 70% of cases you will receive very valuable information which will significantly help you to prepare. Another important aspect is the number and worth of questions.

4. Carefully plan your time for exam preparation. You should give yourself at least 2 full days to prepare. If you are working – take several days off work – it worth it.

5. Start preparation from an early morning. Switch off mobile phone, TV, don’t check your emails and avoid any other disturbances. Make sure you have enough high-calories food (like chocolate).

6. Firstly read all your lecture notes. Vast majority of exams is based on the lecture notes (only or mainly) therefore you don’t need to read all course-recommended books. If you don’t understand something – talk to your classmates, read books, search Internet. Make sure you understand everything.

7. Secondly, answer ALL past exam papers and check your answers. It is useful to collaborate with your classmates because in this case group work may help you to avoid some mistakes.

8. Thirdly, analyse all previous exam papers and information received from your tutor. Try to estimate what kind of exams there will be. Then, assess your capabilities. For example, if you are good with numbers and calculations and KNOW that there will be some questions of such kind on exam, it is advisable for you to concentrate on reviewing techniques related to such questions. Try to plan the questions which you are going to answer (if you are more or less sure they will appear). On 99% of exams students have choice to answer 4 questions from 6 for example), therefore you SHOULD NOT know everything! It is sometimes better to leave some areas and to concentrate on others.

9. If you have a chance – talk to someone from previous year who took this exam. Quite often you can receive some valuable information for them.

10. Make sure you get good sleep before the exam. Many students are much stressed and can’t sleep. Try to use your own tricks to avoid it, for example go to bed earlier, read something, don’t watch TV and etc.

11. Wake up at least 2 hours before you need to leave the house. If you want – do some reading and reviewing, but not much. Eat well. Don’t forget to take all of your lecture notes with you to the university, because you may wish to look at them to clarify something at the last minutes.

12. Take your own stationary: several good pens, calculator and etc.

13. And lastly, when the exam has started – DON’T PANIC even if you seem not to know anything. Relax and write everything you know. Watch the time carefully, so that you have approximately equal amount of time for each questions.

GOOD LUCK! May everybody come out in flying colours for it will help to reassure the careers. May lord vishnu bless all the students taking the MBA/MCA Exams.

My best wishes specially too to all students associated with me/vishnu educational trust.

Hare and tortoise - Organizational story.

Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster.

They decided to settle the argument with a race. They agreed on a route and started off the race. The hare shot ahead and ran briskly for some time. Then seeing that he was far ahead
of the tortoise, he thought he'd sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race. He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep. The tortoise plodding on overtook him and
soon finished the race, emerging as the undisputed champ. The hare woke up and realised that he'd lost the race.

The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race. This is the version of the story that we've all grown up with.

But then recently, someone told me a more interesting version of this story.

It continues :

The hare was disappointed at losing the race and he did some soul-searching. He realised that he'd lost the race only because he had been overconfident, careless and lax. If he had not taken things for granted, there's no way the tortoise could have beaten him. So he challenged the tortoise to another race. The tortoise agreed. This time, the hare went all out and ran without stopping from start to finish. He won by several miles.

The moral of the story?
Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady. If you have two people in your organisation, one slow, methodical and reliable, and the other fast and still reliable at what he does, the fast and reliable chap will consistently climb the organisational ladder faster than the slow, methodical chap. It's good to be slow and steady; but it's better to be fast and reliable.

But the story doesn't end here. The tortoise did some thinking this time, and realised that there's no way he can beat the hare in a race the way it was currently formatted. He thought for a while, and then challenged the hare to another race, but on a slightly different route. The hare agreed.

They started off. In keeping with his self-made commitment to be consistently fast, the hare took off and ran at top speed until he came to a broad river. The finishing line was a couple of
kilometres on the other side of the river. The hare sat there wondering what to do. In the meantime the tortoise trundled along, got into the river, swam to the opposite bank, continued walking and finished the race.

The moral of the story?
First Identify your core competency and then change the playing field to suit your core competency. In an organisation, if you are a good speaker, make sure you create opportunities to give
presentations that enable the senior management to notice you.

If your strength is analysis, make sure you do some sort of research, make a report and send it upstairs. Working to your strengths will not only get you noticed, but will also create opportunities for growth and advancement.

The story still hasn't ended. The hare and the tortoise, by this time, had become pretty good friends and they did some thinking together. Both realised that the last race could have been run
much better.

So they decided to do the last race again, but to run as a team this time. They started off, and this time the hare carried the tortoise till the riverbank. There, the tortoise took over and swam
across with the hare on his back. On the opposite bank, the hare again carried the tortoise and they reached the finishing line together. They both felt a greater sense of satisfaction than they'd felt earlier.

The moral of the story?
It's good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies; but unless you're able to work in a team and harness each other's core competencies, you'll always perform below par because there will always be situations at which you'll do poorly and someone else does well. Teamwork is mainly about situational leadership, letting the person with the relevant core
competency for a situation take leadership.

There are more lessons to be learnt from this story. Note that neither the hare nor the tortoise gave up after failures. The hare decided to work harder and put in more effort after his failure. The tortoise changed his strategy because he was already working as hard as he could. In life, when faced with failure, sometimes it is appropriate to work harder and put in more effort. Sometimes it is appropriate to change strategy and try something different. And sometimes it is appropriate to do both.

The hare and the tortoise also learnt another vital lesson. When we stop competing against a rival and instead start competing against the situation, we perform far better.

Read on….

When Roberto Goizueta took over as CEO of Coca-Cola in the 1980s, he was faced with intense competition from Pepsi that was eating into Coke's growth. His executives were Pepsi-focussed and intent on increasing market share 0.1 per cent a time. Goizueta decided to stop competing against Pepsi and instead compete against the situation of 0.1 per cent growth. He asked his executives what was the average fluid intake of an American per day?
The answer was 14 ounces. What was Coke's share of that? Two ounces. Goizueta said Coke needed a larger share of that market. The competition wasn't Pepsi. It was the water, tea, coffee, milk and fruit juices that went into the remaining 12 ounces. The public should reach for a Coke whenever they felt like drinking something. To this end, Coke put up vending machines at every street corner. Sales took a quantum jump and Pepsi has never quite caught up since.

To sum up, the story of the hare and tortoise teaches us many things. Chief among them are
that
(1) fast and consistent will always beat slow and steady;
(2) work to your competencies;
(3) pooling resources and working as a team will always beat individual performers;
(4) never give up when faced with failure; and finally,
(5) compete against the situation - not against a rival.

Chandigarh is officially India's cleanest city

http://www.ndtv.com/news/cities/chandigarh-is-officially-indias-cleanest-city-24621.php?u=1013&u=1644

Chandigarh has emerged as the number one city in terms of sanitation in the National Rating Exercise, government said on Monday.
Announcing this, Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy listed Mysore at number two, Surat at number three and the NDMC area of New Delhi in the fourth position.
"The purpose of this exercise is to recognise better performers as well as to encourage other cities to perform better. The idea behind the exercise is to galvanise action in states and cities towards better sanitation," Reddy said.
Terming it as a "timely initiative", Reddy hoped that all stakeholders will join hands in the endeavour of creating totally sanitised cities.
Policy rating of 423 cities which covers 72 per cent of the urban population was undertaken. The country was divided into five zones for the purpose and each city was scored on 19 indicators.
Officials said the cities were classified into four colour categories of red, black, blue and green.
"The rating of cities creates a baseline which can be used to measure progress in respect of sanitation in our cities and is expected to encourage cities to perform better in years to come," a senior official said.
None of the cities were rated as "Green" the best category in the exercise. However, four cities -- Chandigarh, Mysore, Surat and NDMC area in New Delhi -- were in the Blue category.
Reddy said he will be writing to all the chief ministers of the states to prioritise sanitation.

"I hope the ratings today will indeed mobilise all stakeholders to prioritise and take action for improving sanitation," the minister added.

Crow lesson from Father

An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45 years old highly educated son.

Suddenly a crow perched on their window.

The Father asked his Son, "What is this?"

The Son replied "It is a crow".

After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?"

The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, What is this?"

At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in the Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow"

A little after, the Father again asked his Son the 4th time, "What is this?"

This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'IT

IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On opening

a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the

following words were written in the diary :-
"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and
I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child".

While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this", the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt irritated and annoyed.

Lesson to learn from This Story:

If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them. Be considerate to your parents.

From today say this aloud,

"I want to see my parents Happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me.
They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in the society today".

Say a prayer to God, "I will serve my old parents in the BEST way. I will say all good and kind words to my dear parents, no matter how they behave.

The Story of a Father and Son

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art.

When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.

About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.

He said, "Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art." The young man held out this package. "I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this."
The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture. "Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift."
The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.

A few years later the man died too. Since he had no heir, all his paintings were to be sold at auction. Collectors came from all around, it isn't often that such a great collection becomes available.

As the auction opened the first painting on the platform was the painting of the son. The auctioneer pounded his gavel. "We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?"

There was silence.

After a few moments, a voice in the back of the room shouted, "We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one."
But the auctioneer persisted. "Will somebody bid for this painting. Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?"

Another voice angrily. "We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Goghs, the Rembrandts. Get on with the real bids!"

But still the auctioneer continued. "

The son! The son! Who'll take the son?"
Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. "I'll give $10 for the painting." Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.

"We have $10, who will bid $20?"

"Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters."

"$10 is the bid, won't someone bid $20?"

The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son.

They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.

The auctioneer pounded the gavel. "Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!"

A man sitting on the second row shouted, "Now let's get on with the collection!"

The auctioneer laid down his gavel. "I'm sorry, the auction is over."

"What about the paintings?"

"I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including all the paintings.

The man who took the son gets everything!"

God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is: "The son, the son, who'll take the son?"

Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE...THAT'S LOVE

God Bless

Father and Son.

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study.

His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Noble Bhagvadgita. Angrily, young man raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Noble bhagvadgita?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the Noble bhagvadgita.

Young man never contacted his father again for long long time. Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.

Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When the young man arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Noble bhagvadgita, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Noble bhagvadgita and began to turn the pages. As he Read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Noble bhagvadgita. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.

Mental Health Problems and Mind-Body Wellness

Mental health problems are similar to other health problems: some can be prevented, others will go away on their own with home treatment, and some need professional attention.

Mental Self-Care

Many mental health problems begin when physical stress (such as an illness or injury) or emotional stress (such as the loss of a loved one) triggers chemical changes in your brain. The goal of treatment for mental health problems—including self-care and professional treatment—is to reduce stress and restore the normal chemical processes in your brain.

Seeking professional help

In general, it is a good idea to seek professional help for a mental health problem when:

A symptom does not get better on its own.

A symptom becomes severe or disruptive.

A symptom becomes a continuous or permanent pattern of behavior and does not respond to self-care.

Symptoms become numerous, affect all areas of your life, and do not respond to self-care or help from family or friends.

You are thinking about hurting yourself or someone else. See the topics Suicidal Thoughts or Threats and Physical Abuse.

There is a wide range of professional and community resources to choose from for mental health problems.

Mind-Body Wellness

The mind-body connection

Medical science is making remarkable discoveries about the relationship between your state of mind and your mental and physical health. Researchers have found that one function of the brain is to produce substances that can improve your health. Your brain can create endorphins, which are natural painkillers; gamma globulin for fortifying your immune system; and interferon for combating infections, viruses, and even cancer. Your brain can combine these and other substances into a vast number of tailor-made prescriptions for whatever ails you.

The substances that your brain produces depend in part on your thoughts, feelings, and expectations. If your attitude about an illness (or life in general) is negative and you don't have expectations that your condition will get better, your brain may not produce enough of the substances your body needs to heal. On the other hand, if your attitude and expectations are more positive, your brain is likely to produce sufficient amounts of the substances that will boost your body's healing power.

Your physical health also has an impact on your brain's ability to produce substances that affect your mental well-being. An illness or injury that causes long-term physical stress can lead to chemical imbalances in the brain. These imbalances may lead to depression and other mental health problems.

Positive Thinking

People with positive attitudes generally enjoy life more, but are they any healthier? The answer is often "yes." Optimism is a resource for healing. Optimists are more likely to overcome pain and adversity in their efforts to improve their medical treatment outcomes. For example, optimistic coronary bypass patients generally recover more quickly and have fewer complications after surgery than do patients who are less hopeful.1, 2

Your body responds to your thoughts, emotions, and actions. In addition to staying fit, eating right, and managing stress, you can use the following three strategies to help maintain your health:

1. Create positive expectations for health and healing.

Mental and emotional expectations can influence medical outcomes. The effectiveness of any medical treatment depends in part on how useful you expect it to be. The "placebo effect" proves this. A placebo is a drug or treatment that provides no medical benefit except for the patient's belief that it will help. Many patients who receive placebos report satisfactory relief from their medical problem, even though they received no actual medicine.
Changing your expectations from negative to positive may enhance your physical health. Here's how to make the change:

Stop all negative self-talk. Make positive statements that promote your recovery.

Send yourself a steady stream of affirmations. An affirmation is a phrase or sentence that sends strong, positive statements to you about yourself, such as "I am a capable person" or "My joints are strong and flexible."

Visualize health and healing. Add mental pictures that support your positive affirmations.

Don't feel guilty. There is no value in feeling guilty about health problems. While there is a lot you can do to reduce your risk for health problems and improve your chances of recovery, some illnesses may develop and persist no matter what you do. Some things just are. Do the best you can.

2. Open yourself to humor, friendship, and love.

Positive emotions boost your health. Fortunately, almost anything that makes you feel good about yourself helps you stay healthy.

Laugh. A little humor makes life richer and healthier. Laughter increases creativity, reduces pain, and speeds healing. Keep an emergency laughter kit that contains funny videotapes, jokes, cartoons, and photographs. Put it with your first-aid supplies and keep it well stocked.

Seek out friends. Friendships are vital to good health. Close social ties help you recover more quickly from illness and reduce your risk of developing diseases ranging from arthritis to depression.

Volunteer. People who volunteer live longer and enjoy life more than those who do not volunteer. By helping others, we help ourselves.

Plant a plant and pet a pet. Plants and pets can be highly therapeutic. When you stroke an animal, your blood pressure goes down and your heart rate slows. Animals and plants help us feel needed.

3. Appeal to a higher power.

If you believe in a higher power, ask for support in your pursuit of healing and health. Faith, prayer, and spiritual beliefs can play an important role in recovering from an illness.
